I am committed to using academic research in ways that help inform policy. I really enjoy working on projects with governmental and community organizations with the goal of better understanding the impact of their work, and improving policy going forward. To that end, I have consulted on, conducted research for, and written a number of policy reports. Below are some examples of that work.
Cities and Counties for Citizenship (CC4C)
I worked with CC4C on a report that looked at what cities across the country are doing to help eligible immigrants on their path to citizenship. I surveyed their member cities and used the data to create tables and informative graphs. The report can be found here.
Chinese for Affirmative Action
I worked with Chinese for Affirmative Action, a San Francisco-based organization, on a project that examines non-citizen voting in the city. We interviewed over 50 immigrants, policymakers, and advocates to produce a report on the causes and effects of non-citizen voting in San Francisco. The report can be found here.
Broadbent Institute
Alongside my coauthors, Chuka Ejeckam and David Moscrop, I wrote a report on the history and effects of the First-Past-the-Post electoral system in Canada. The report can be found here.
